Addiction & Mental Health Treatment for Women in Agoura Hills, CA

A women-only residential program where you can put the weight down, be cared for by women who understand, and start again.

O-han-a (n.) means family.

At Ohana Recovery Center, we understand what it is like to feel lost, exhausted, or completely disconnected from yourself. Our women-only residential program in Agoura Hills, California treats alcohol and drug addiction together with the anxiety, depression and trauma that so often sit underneath it. Every clinician, peer and staff member you meet here is a woman. We are licensed by the California Department of Health Care Services and accredited by The Joint Commission, and our care is led by a board-certified addiction medicine physician. You do not have to have it figured out before you call. One confidential conversation is enough to start.

24-Hour Support

Staff are on site around the clock in our residential home, with medical support on call 24 hours a day, so you are never managing a hard night alone.

A Plan Built Around You

Your treatment plan starts with a full clinical assessment and changes as you do. No two women follow the same schedule here.

Trauma-Focused

Most women we treat carry trauma alongside addiction. We screen for it on day one and treat both at the same time, with EMDR, CBT and art therapy available.

Women Caring for Women

Our clinical team is led by Medical Director Sirisat Khalsa, MD, board-certified in addiction medicine, and brings decades of combined experience in women's treatment.

A Women-Only Addiction Treatment Center in Agoura Hills

Ohana is a small residential program, not a hospital and not a campus. You live in a private residential home in Agoura Hills with a handful of other women, eat meals cooked by our chef, and work a full clinical schedule of individual, group and family therapy. Because every person here is a woman, the things that are hardest to say out loud, about pregnancy, children, relationships, violence or shame, get said. More than four in ten U.S. adults with a substance use disorder also have a mental illness (SAMHSA, 2023). We treat depression, anxiety, PTSD and bipolar disorder alongside addiction rather than sending you elsewhere for one of them.

Why Women Choose a Women-Only Program

Federal research is clear that addiction develops, progresses and recovers differently in women. Women move from first use to dependence faster, are more likely to have a co-occurring mood or anxiety disorder, and are more likely to have experienced trauma before treatment (NIDA). A program designed around those facts, run entirely by women, removes a layer of fear that keeps many women from staying. Our home in Agoura Hills is quiet, private and a short drive from the Pacific, and the days are full: therapy, movement, meals together, and time to rest.

Questions women ask us before they call

About this page. Ohana Recovery Center is a women-only residential treatment program at 1936 Hazel Nut Court, Agoura Hills, California. We are licensed by the California Department of Health Care Services (license 191091AP, verify on the CHHS facility list) and accredited by The Joint Commission. Our medical director, Sirisat Khalsa, MD, is board-certified in addiction medicine. Detox at Ohana is clinically managed, with 24-hour on-call medical support. Nothing on this page is a promise about outcomes: recovery looks different for every woman, and the right level of care is decided with you after a confidential assessment.

Is Ohana really a women-only program?

Yes. Ohana Recovery Center admits only adult women, and every clinician, group facilitator, technician and staff member who works with you is a woman. That is a design choice, not a slogan: it lets women speak about pregnancy, parenting, relationships and past harm without the audience they would have in a mixed program.

What is addiction treatment in Agoura Hills like at Ohana?

You live in a private residential home with a small group of women. A typical day includes an individual session or case management, two or three group therapies, a movement or mindfulness block such as yoga or breathwork, chef-prepared meals, and an evening group or free time. Family sessions are scheduled with your consent. Length of stay is set with your clinical team based on your needs, not a fixed package.

Do you offer medical detox?

We provide clinically managed detox with 24-hour on-call medical support, overseen by our medical director, a board-certified addiction medicine physician. Before admission we assess your withdrawal risk. Severe alcohol or benzodiazepine dependence, or significant medical conditions, may need a hospital or medically monitored detox first, and we will help you arrange that and admit you afterward.

Do you take my insurance?

We work with most major PPO and POS plans and verify benefits before you arrive, usually the same day, so you know what is covered. If you are unsure what kind of plan you have, call and we will check it with you.

Can my family be involved?

Yes, and we encourage it. Family therapy is part of the program, not an add-on. With your permission, your partner, parents or adult children can take part in sessions and in our alumni and family services after you go home.

How do I verify that Ohana is licensed?

Ohana Recovery Center holds California Department of Health Care Services license 191091AP. You can look it up on the state’s public facility list, and our Joint Commission accreditation can be checked on Quality Check. Both links are on our About page.

Talk to a woman who answers the phone. Call 866-382-5394 or request a confidential callback. We can check your PPO or POS benefits the same day, and there is no obligation.
